Accessibility statement

Built to be usable by everyone.

Right Support North East exists for people who are too often designed around. This website is meant to be usable by everyone, whatever technology they browse with — and when it is not, we want to know.

Last updated: 1 September 2026

Our commitment

This website (rightsupportnortheast.co.uk) aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Accessibility was part of how the site was built, not an afterthought.

How the site was tested

Before launch, every page was checked with automated accessibility testing (axe-core, against the WCAG 2.2 AA rule set) and by hand: tabbing through each page with a keyboard only, reviewing image descriptions, checking colour contrast, and viewing the site at 200% text size and on small screens. Issues found in that testing were fixed before this statement was published.

What we have done

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, including the menu and the enquiry form, and a skip-to-content link is the first thing the keyboard reaches
  • Text and background colours meet WCAG contrast requirements, on both the light and the navy sections
  • All images carry meaningful text descriptions for screen readers, and decorative graphics are hidden from them
  • Headings, landmarks and form labels are marked up properly so assistive technology can navigate the page structure
  • The site respects your device’s reduced-motion setting: with it on, nothing on the page animates or moves
  • Text can be resized to 200% and the layout reflows down to small screens without loss of content
  • Nothing on the site flashes, autoplays, or imposes a time limit

Known limitations

We are not aware of any part of the site that fails WCAG 2.2 AA. Testing cannot cover every combination of device and assistive technology, so if you find something we have missed, please tell us. If a document is later published on the Policies and Procedures page in a format that is not accessible (for example a scanned PDF), we will provide the content in an accessible format on request.

If something gets in your way

If any part of this website is hard for you to use, or you need anything on it in another format — large print, plain text, or read aloud over the phone — contact David at david@rightsupportnortheast.co.uk or on 0191 259 4658. We aim to respond within one working day, and the site itself will be fixed where it is at fault.

Enforcement

If you contact us about accessibility and are not happy with our response, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) is the body that handles complaints about the Equality Act 2010: equalityadvisoryservice.com.
